The Grand Voyages of Arthur Curtiss James

The "Grand Voyages of Arthur Curtiss James" focuses on James's numerous journeys onboard Coronet and his two Alohas. Concurrently the Coronet restoration will be open to the public at IYRS.

Captain and Owner of The CoronetAs a boy, it was Arthur Curtiss James’ dream to circumnavigate the globe; he spent much of his adult life in pursuit of this dream. His yachts cumulatively logged nearly ½ million nautical miles. Each decade from just before the turn of the twentieth century to the 1930s Arthur Curtiss James embarked on a “grand sailing voyage” onboard his luxurious yachts in the company of his wife Harriet and good friends. A close look at the James’ adventures reveals not only the yachting style of the era, but also the many changes taking place in the world at that time. Notable events accounted in James’ log books include hosting Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Graham Bell onboard Coronet and passing through the newly opened Panama Canal onboard Aloha.
