I realize that I’ve neglected to show some plain old recent photos of Cherokee recently.

From the stern.  You can really see the twist in the planking as it runs aft to the transom.

Here she is from above with all the bracing still holding her rock steady.

And here we are pretending to fit a plank so that David can get us all in a photo.  Nice shot there, David!

From L to R, that’s Karl, myself, Abe, and Robin.

And here’s a fish eye view of the port side showing the planking progress so far.

And one from the bow, on the starboard side.

One of the interesting things about silverbali is that it darkens with exposure to light, just like cherry does.  You can see this particularly well in the color progression of the upper planks.  The planks get progressively lighter as they go down the boat.  The lowest planks are the newest, so their wood has only recently been planed, and thus exposed to sunlight.   The starboard side of the boat gets lots of direct eastern light.

The port side of the boat receives no direct sunlight, so the effect is less noticeable here, although you can start to see a slight change in the lowest planks.

Next up, some more on spiling as well as a little detective work.
